'The composition My Star creates a particular mood, determined by its tempo, intervals, chord progression, scales, voicing and structure. Denise's lyrics reinforce the atmospheric element of the composition. The 19 bars theme is based on a nine bars phrase, repeated as a modulation with an extension. The song features vocal, bass and trumpet as a togetherness within the band and the three individually in their own right. Denise, Jasper and Ronald perform as soloists with conviction and create each of them their own natural flow of music. The song ends very tranquilly with Denise humming on top of a flageolet tone of Ronald's bass.'
'Kees' composition had no title yet, only “Song X” as a working title. I was immediately captured by this song's haunting and beautiful melody and atmosphere of being in a dreamlike state. It inspired me, after a short meditation, to write about this someone who, to me, can be considered as either being in the flesh, or in Spirit. Just choose for yourself, once you feel where “My Star” leads you!'
