The sextet combines the transparency and improvisations of the small jazz combo with the orchestration possibilities of the big band, the best of both worlds. The band predominantly performs tunes composed by the members of the band themselves. The sextet has a striking sound, which could be easily recognised as energetic and fresh.

The North Sea Jazz Festival, the world's largest indoor jazz festival, has been a frequent platform for a number of the guys and some of them performed with well-known Dutch jazz musicians, such als John Engels, Greetje Kauffeld, Hein van der Geyn, Toon Roos, Michiel Borstlap and Jesse Ruller and with famous American jazz musicians, like Clark Terry, Chet Baker, Tom Harrell, Rick Margitza and Sarah Vaughn.

The group consists of a combination of young up-and-coming jazz musicians and seasoned senior cats. Most members of the sextet have accomplished their conservatory study in the Netherlands and a few attended follow-up studies in the USA.

Leading Dutch jazz singer Denise Jannah is a regular guest singer of the Sextet.

The CD El Sendero is dedicated to the co-founder of the Sextet, fluegelhorn player Theo Meurs, who sadly passed away early 2005.
